Abstract

The last five Gregorian centuries witnessed wondrous inventions that changed the lifestyle of human beings such as electricity, press, telephone, trains, steamship, airplane, cars, radio, television, satellite, spaceships, typewriter, and computer.

This paper consists of three sections: first section is about the presence of new inventions in Arabic poetry which is considered an introduction to the paper because Saudi poetry is a part of Arabic poetry. The second section is about the image of inventions in Saudi poetry which is the main part of the paper. This section tangles the image of new inventions in samples of Saudi poetry but not all Saudi poetry. The paper chooses samples that fulfil the needs of this paper into three directions: astonishment, familiarity, and cautiousness or description of risks that may result from some of the inventions. The third section is about the aesthetic features and related features of this kind of poetry. Finally, the paper ends with a conclusion.
