Abstract

The use of poetry in narrative contexts draws attention and prompts examination as it gives a first impression about the possibility of figuring out its forms, pragmatic dimensions, and purposes in the text. Therefore, it does not lack functions that help in delivering the contextual meaning because it increases its performative force that seeks to fulfill the purpose of sermons represented in advice.

Poetry plays an important role in preaching and makes up the shortcomings of pure prose. The two genres complement each other as the qualified orator can achieve many fruitful outcomes through poetry. Exploring preaching and advice books make literary research rigorous since it explores poetry in unusual resources for poetry. Then it examines it in its different contexts to identify the distinctive features or its pragmatic usage in the intended context.
