Lamenting children in the poetry of Ibn Nabatah Almasri
Abstract
One of the most prominent poets of the Mamluk era who lost their sons was Jamal al-Din ibn Nabatah. He was shocked by the tragedy of the loss of a large number of his children, about sixteen sons. This is a major calamity and a disaster that haunted the poet. This made his poetry in this matter recognizable, for he experienced what others did not experience in continuous loss of children and growing sadness.
This research is concerned with studying the most important aspects of the lamentation of Ibn Nabata for his sons from stylistic point of view, which came in three sections:
- Emotional Function Section
- Dictionary Section
- The section of the symmetry between the speaker and the communicator (between the lamenter and the lamented).
