Abstract

The polarity of Space in the Stories Collection Topography of Marble by Ali Zaalah is a study that focuses on the critical approach of the Saudi short story. It shows a narrative that is deep-rooted in subjectivity and adventure emanating from a young spirit that observes society. This study discusses the Topography of Marble showing the polarity of space spatially and temporally, displaying motives that emit polarization, highlighting its configuration in narrative texts, and showing the impact on narration style and character development. This study comes with an introduction and preface about the narrator Ali Zaalah, the collection, and the concepts of the study. The first section of the study shows the types of spatial polarity, the second about the types of d temporal polarity, and the third discusses the impact of polarity on characters' development and narration style. Lastly, the study closes with a conclusion of the most prominent results of the study, then the sources and references.
