This article aims to study the conceptual structure in narrative discourse in general and in the novel in particular, to show how the various components of the narrative are conceptually formed and to identify the conceptual metaphors behind them.
Conceptual metaphors contribute to a large extent to shaping writings and subjecting them to a certain logic. It controls the mental and psychological structures of the characters. It determines the way they understand and perceive the world and the objects, events, and emotions taking place around them. As a result of this awareness, different types of convictions and behaviors are crucial in the network of relationships. Time and space, in turn, seek a depth of awareness that empties them of the functions of framing and, instead, fills them with functions of understanding and thinking.
This article aspires to reach results that illuminate new aspects of narrative discourse, open various research avenues, contribute to revolutionizing critical discourse, and strengthen efforts made in the framework of developing the science of cognitive narration.
