Abstract

The object of this research is to study preceded "from" and its prepositional phrase to preference verb, whether the prepositional phrase is or other than interrogative. The research aims to illustrate the case of preceded in both forms, offer some principles of analogy and postulated, and mention the reasons mentioned by the grammarians.  The research adopted the descriptive-analytical approach. The researcher concluded that it is obligatory to be preceded in the form of “Who do you know best?”, and its permissibility in the form of “saad knows better than Bakr” in contrast to the majority of grammarians who link the last form to the necessity of poetry.
