Abstract:
The Saudi short story is a treasure trove of creative variations worthy of research. In recent decades, there has been a surge in production that displays excellent care in artistic construction and modernization of methods. As a result, the sources of creativity, confusion, and artistic astonishment have multiplied. With this in mind, the researcher chose to examine a group of narrative models found in the book "Anthology of the Short Story in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," by Khaled Ahmed Al-Yousef. This book is a comprehensive resource of short stories that Al-Yousef believes to be shining examples of their writers' creativity.
The Saudi short story's ability to manipulate its characters and immerse them in a reality that reveals their weaknesses and defeat in the face of greater forces, such as diseases, disabilities, orphanhood, and death, is evident in space's thresholds, beginnings, and spatial and temporal structures. This is consistent with the spirit of the short story, which arises from a loss of balance due to its volatile, suggestive, and brief nature. This characteristic allows it to participate in the games of narrative astonishment and artistic adventures, making it even more radiant and lively.
