Abstract

Arabic scholars have been interested in researching the names of hours, days, nights, months, times, and seasons since an early time. They studied their derivations and the phonetic, morphological, grammatical, and semantic issues related to them.                                                           

  Among these scholars is Imam Alam al-Din al-Sakhawi, to whom I am presenting today two texts: a well-known mention of the names of days and months, and the second: a section on the names of the months in ancient times. The researcher verified these two manuscripts and commented on them.
