Abstract

The critics position regarding the existence and significance of rhythm in metered poems was polarized along two different opinions, and the paucity of critical studies on rhythm in the metered poem illuminates the topic’s significance. Hence, the research seeks to highlight rhythm in the anthology (Ward Asmar Yamla’ Riati) by Dakhel Khalifah as a latest anthology of the contemporary metered poems issued in July 2023, regarding the poet among the devoted modern poets with rich poetic experience who applied the rhythm in this anthology, which confirms the significance of the study and analysis of the patterns of rhythm in all its poetic components. The research tracked the poet’s perspective towards rhythm, and the findings include: widespread of the unified rhythm reaching 95% in the anthology, and the prominence of rhythm value in shaping the poetic image.
