From the Eloquence of Employing Number in Hadiths of Sahih Al-Bukhari

Abstract

The Prophet, peace be upon him, was given the most comprehensive of words, so his prophetic hadiths were fluent and eloquent in the finest models of eloquence, fluent and eloquence; the Prophet excelled in employing the number in his Hadiths; To denote multiple rhetorical purposes and meanings. The importance of this study lies in the fact that it is an attempt to clarify the rhetorical and semantic purposes of employing the number in the Prophetic hadith. It aims to identify the most important purposes for which the number was employed to denote. The descriptive and inductive approach was used, it came in an introduction, four chapters and a conclusion. The First Research: Employing single numbers. The Second Research: Employing contracts number. The Third Research: Employing complex and conjunction numbers. The Fourth Research: Employing hundred, thousand and its multiples. The conclusion: it contains the most important results. Among the most important results: are the ingenuity of the Prophet, peace; and blessings be upon him, in employing the number in denoting many diverse meanings, values, and connotations related to Islamic law, its principles, teachings, worship, limits, penances, and others. Those numbers conveyed the meanings clearly and emphatically. It led to understanding those meanings; and ease of memorizing and working with them.
