Abstract

This research is titled “Responses of Ahmed bin Qasim Al-Abbady to Complex Problems in Arabic Syntax, and Rhetoric)

The study contains three traditional texts by Ahmed bin Qasim Al-Abbady (d. 994 H). In these three texts, he addresses challenging questions posed by students of his time, providing comprehensive answers and detailed explanations. The motivation behind bringing this research to light is rooted in the scholarly responsibility toward the heritage and the invaluable insights it offers the future generations. Recognizing the significance of understanding their contributions and the potential lessons -whether positive or negative- embedded in their writings. The goal is to bridge the gap to their era, gaining insights through their own words.

The first part of the research includes answers to three questions in Syntax, covering conjunction, conditional sentences, and present tense topics. The second part delves into the meaning and derivation of the term (الفُتيا) with a presentation of various scholars opinions in addition to the author’s own viewpoint.  The third part addresses four diverse questions including the type of ellipses in the phrase (لا اله الا الله), resolving discrepancies in scholar’s definitions of metaphor, discussing scholars’ evidences in the case of a major sinner, and last providing his opinion in the Al-Taftazani’s definition of the term (الرسول).
