Treating a Word from the Holy Quran and its readings in accordance with similar cases: Manifestations, Rationale, and Grammarians’position
Abstract
This topic illustrates an aspect of manipulation in Arabic, which is based on the concept of analogy whose method works by using a word in place of another, to assume the function of the original word.
Grammarians discussed this aspect, which was included in many of their linguistic issues, and which was manipulated by scholars of Arabic language and exegisists in their studies of problematic Quranic verses and irregular declensions. They resorted to preferring or rejecting a certain possibility, and expanding the use of the word beyond its known applications.
This study aims at revealing the different aspects of this topic, and recording previous conclusions. It starts with an introduction which includes the basic notion of replacement and clarifies its main resources according to grammarians. This is followed by three sections, the first of which presents manifestations I have been able to find in the Holy Quran and its readings. The second section is devoted to the study of its rationale, and the third shows the position of grammarians towards the question of replacement. Finally, the conclusion includes the most important findings of this study.
