The Beauty of Reciting Quran Verses in Light of Phonology
Abstract
Research related to the Holy Quran is the finest, the richest, and the most enjoyable. In fact, it is the purpose sought by researchers in Arabic from all specializations. One of the most important research topics is the beautiful recitation of the verses of the Quran. This is due to its close relation to the Holy Quran on the one hand, and the focus on the proper recitation of Quran that is characterized by the beautiful performance and the perfect reading, on the other. The correct tajweed-based recitation attracts the listener's attention and leads to the contemplation of the intended meaning of verses, so the hearts become humbly submissive at the remembrance of Allah. Also, it is the basis for contemplating and being affected by the Holy Quran.
Accordingly, this research aims at showing how to recite the verses of the Holy Quran correctly, in addition to showing the basis for identifying the determinants of a beautiful performance and its features, and by which we can also describe and evaluate the reader's performance. The research also analyzes and accounts for those factors within Phonology which is primarily concerned with oral or spoken language.
This research shows the importance of improving the voice when reading the Holy Quran because a good voice has an effective role in attracting the attention and the hearts. Thus, the reader can contemplate and understand the intended meaning of the verses.
Moreover, the research shows that the good reader is the one who can control his organs of speech, his breath and the ability to change his voice level and intonations according to the meaning of the verses of the Quran. In addition, it shows the role of the language of the Quran, its verse endings and sound lengthening which result in a beautiful performance.
