Abstract

This study presents an example of one of the central careers of the Caliph's House, which is a clerk, who was in charge of writing down what the Sultan asks for regarding the state and people's affairs. The appointed clerk did not just transfer ideas, but he was highly recognized by the Sultan before being appointed in that position; he was his secret keeper and consultant. He was also notified of things that no one would ever get to know about.  Such a high position made the clerk aware of the ethics that he should have for the companionship of the Sultan. He also recognized the importance of going to him and keeping company with him. This also made him aware that the excellence of his writing, knowledge and eloquence is a condition for keeping his position in the Sultan's House; a position which too many people aspire after. This study shows all the related topics to the Sultan clerk, such as his social status, his power inside the Sultan House and the envy of his peers.

It also presents a detailed review of what potentials and features he should gain to guarantee being close to the Sultan as well as a number of instructions specified to him to skillfully perform his career.
