Abstract

This research aims at gathering Abu Tammam Al-Basri’s views on the fundamental issues and explaining the evidence for these views. The research showed Abu Tammam’s high scholarly and jurisprudential rank among the Maliki scholars, and the reason for why he has been regarded as one of the leading Maliki scholars in Baghdad. The research also revealed Abu Tammam’s scholarly independence since he did not follow the Maliki school in all his views; but had his own different views on many issues based on the evidence he found. The research paper starts with an introduction about Abu Tammam Al-Basri, and includes eight section which discusses his views on language and semantics issues.
