The Councils of study in the light of Qur'an, Sunnah and what is Narrated by Sahabah

Abstract

The present study revolves around the steps needed for establishing Councils for studying the Qur’an, Holy Book of Allah, which depends on the Qur'an, Sunnah and what is narrated by Al Sahabah (companions). This will enable the participants live the meaning of the great Book of Almighty Allah, reach His guidance, and act and behave according to what Allah requires from them in order to adopt good manners. Hence, in order to achieve our access to the guidance of Qur'an, we must follow the approach adopted by the salaf (our predecessors) demonstrated through what they learnt from prophet of Al Huda (peace be upon him), and were able to achieve in the Qur'an Study Councils (QSCs). Now, for the QSCs to achieve the fruitful aims of establishing them, they must include aspects of non-recitation, explication of rare words, and memorization only.

After scrutinizing relevant texts, I found that the QSCs depended on five main elements: (introduction, recitation, explication, contemplation and Tazkiah). These elements can sometimes be visible and other times deduced by checking and contemplating the texts.

The five elements are the main topics for maintaining QSCs, taking into consideration that the term “study” signifies interaction and participation.

Hence, this is the method to be used in the implementation of the QSCs, which will allow participants to discuss Qur’anic verses to the benefit of council members. 

So by the evidence of al Qur'an, Sunnah and what is narrated by al Sahabah (companions of Prophet Muhammad) I have reached the five-element model, each element of which starts with the Arabic letter /T/ giving introduction, recitation, interpretation,  contemplating and Tazkiah. Considered carefully, the order of the elements needs to be adhered to in QSCs, a technique approved by practical experience.

Thus, I can sumbmit to the reader the present objective fundamental study for QSCs to promote the sudy of the Holy Qur’an, Sunnah, and Sahabah narrated traditions.
