Abstract

This research talks about the issue of the dead hearing the living, which is a doctrinal topic, and we received the Quranic verses which deny that the dead hear the living, and it has been proved in the authentic hadiths that the Prophet (peace be upon him) spoke to the dead. Hence, the study tries to answer the problems of conflicting texts; through presenting statements of the followers of Sunnah about that matter. Some prove that the dead can hear the living, and others reject it. After the presentation of the statements and evidence, it turns out that originally the dead can't hear the living except in specific cases. The research also talked about the sayings that opposed the Followers of Sunnah in this matter, as acknowledging the dead's capability of hearing the living would make it possible for one to ask them for help instead of Allah when in distress, beg for desires, and ask for needs. That has been discussed with them, and they were answered.
