Abstract

It is well known among scholars and researchers that badr al-Din al-Aini relied on “Fath al-Bari” in many places in “Umdat al-Qari”, with his fondness for objecting to Ibn Hajar for the slightest occasion, and that he may have changed the quotation to object to Ibn Hajar. Ibn Hajar answered many of Al-Aini's objections in "Intiqadh Al-I'etiraad", and was silent about many, so this research shed light on the impact of Al-Badr Al-Aini's strong objections to Ibn Hajar in "Fath Al-Bari".

The research necessitated studying the history of authoring the two books, the relationship between them, and employing “manuscripts” by referring to ancient manuscripts of “Fath al-Bari” belonging to the students of Ibn Hajar; and studying the comments on them.  This study reveals several conclusions: among them, the composition of Al-Fath passed through stages that can be distinguished by reference to the copies of the author’s students, and that Al-Aini was transcribing from “Fath Al-Bari” draft before Ibn Hjr writing some additions and corrections. It is not correct to accuse Al-iyni of changing the quotations and arbitrariness in the objection at all. In addition, that Al-iyni’s objections had an impact on those additions and corrections done by Ibn Hajr, as Ibn Hajar was fixing the defect and increasing the statement to correct the objections.
