Abstract

An important service that students of knowledge provide is the accurate annotation, typing and publishing of classical scholars’ works. This study focuses on a work of Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Wahaibi, may Allah Almighty have mercy on him, titled: The Joy of the Eye in the Statement that Praying in Socks and Sandals is from the Prophetic Injunctions and Example.

The author, may Allah Almighty have mercy on him, mentioned the precedence of praying in clean footwear; and mentioned several evidences for that such as the fact that the action is from the practice and injunctions of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and the practice of his companions and the scholars that came after them, may Allah be pleased with them. He also responded to some of the arguments of scholars who are of the opinion that praying in footwear is impermissible as well as methods to clean footwear properly before praying in it. The author emphasized the importance of giving preponderance to evidence and avoiding bias.
