Abstract

This research deals with the quotations of Abu al-Layth al-Samarqandi, which he mentioned in his interpretation: "Bahr al-Uloom", which are the issues and dilemmas in which the question and answer formula was used, such as "If it is said... we say" and "If someone says... we say" and the like, the research came to clarify what is meant. With these graphs, the most famous of the interpreters who used them, the formulas that al-Samarqandi employed in his quotations, the purposes that prompted him to mention them, the topics he dealt with, the extent of the scientific value of these graphs, the extent to which the interpreters were influenced by them, and their transmission of them in their interpretations.

One of the results of the research was: that Al-Samarqandi is considered one of the first to use this method among the commentators, and he has the forefront in addressing many issues and possible problems that may arise in some verses, and with the lack of what Al-Samarkandi mentioned in terms of quotations, as it reached only sixty-seven quotations, but it was distinguished by its accuracy. And the importance of its issues, the multiplicity of its purposes, the diversity of its topics, and the influence of many commentators on it, and their transmission of it in their interpretations.

Recommendations: Collecting what al-Samarqandi mentioned of the quotes, studying them analytically, and studying al-Samarkandi's approach in presenting and directing the sayings.
