Abstract:
This research deals with Affirming “Al Kanaf” attribute (means the “Protector /Carer”) For Allah Almighty. First, it explains the meaning of “Kanaf” linguistically, and then addresses the meaning as an attribute of Allah Almighty, providing evidence for that attribute from Sunnah, and presenting the sayings of Sunnah imams proving the attribute, and replies to innovators who deny it. In this research, I followed the inductive, analytical, and critical approach, concluding with the outcomes I came up with, including that the knowledge of the Names and Attributes of Allah Almighty is one of the noblest and most beneficial sciences for the servants, and that we should all believe in Allah’s names and attributes mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah books, without tahreef (distortion) , ta'teel (negation) , takyeef (to ask how) , tamtheel (resemblance). Sunnis ascribe “Al Kanaf” attribute to Allah believing it is a well-established and intrinsic attribute of Allah Almighty, which must be believed in without distortion, negation, asking how, or resemblance. Moreover, many narrations from Sunnah imams and scholars prove this attribute to Allah. This is an indisputable belief and well-established fact of Muslim’s creed, despite the arguments put forward by the Mobtadi’ah (innovators) who attach more weight to reason “’Aql” over revelation “Naql” and use figurative interpretation “Ta’weel” to interpret the attribute in manners which are evidently refutable.
