Abstract:

This research aims to study the contrasting interpretations (tafseer) among the Companions of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), exploring their features characteristics and underlying causes. These disparities reflect the exalted status, profound knowledge, and astute understanding of the Quran possessed by the Companions; may Allah be pleased with them. Their intentions were solely focused on elucidating and substantiating the truth, inviting others towards it, exposing falsehood, refuting it, and raising awareness about its dangers. The research has produced significant findings, including:

 .1. Contradictory interpretations among the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, did exist, albeit infrequently, with a greater prevalence in verses pertaining to legal rulings.

2.Their differences primarily arose in matters that allowed for diverse viewpoints and where individual reasoning was deemed valid.

3.These differences were not rooted in verses with explicit meanings, fundamental religious principles, or knowledge that was necessarily revealed. Rather, they centered on secondary issues that required individual interpretation and personal judgment.
