Abstract

Abstract:

This study aims to elucidate key features of the Prophetic methodology in reinforcing sound judgment and to present prominent examples of the Prophet’s approval of correct opinions expressed by his Companions in public matters and military expeditions. The researcher employed both the inductive and historical-analytical methods. The findings highlight, among other points, that the Prophetic methodology was not limited to merely encouraging the Companions to voice their opinions; rather, the Prophet ﷺ would affirm, approve, and support those whose opinions were correct. Numerous instances demonstrate the application of this methodology, wherein the Prophet accepted and implemented the sound judgments of his Companions, underscoring both the value of correct opinion and its proponent. Moreover, the Prophet’s ﷺ adoption of correct opinions—despite being divinely guided and infallible—indicates that these practices served to cultivate the Companions’ personalities and to establish an Islamic model for future generations. His acceptance of sound opinions from certain Companions during critical military campaigns was not a matter of mere convenience but rather a deliberate establishment of an Islamic approach to engaging with well-founded and justified opinions. The study recommends distinguishing between the Prophetic applications of affirming correct opinions from Companions and other instances of Prophetic consultation or dialogue, which may differ in purpose and outcome
