The Abrogation of Zakat and Charity Verses in the Holy Quran: Presentation and Investigation

Abstract

The subject of abrogation the verses of zakat and charity is the most verses, except the verse of sword, repeated in the books of interpreters and Quran sciences in general and in particular that relevant to abrogation.

This research includes the study of 13 thirteen verses which have difference between the interpreters whether they are abrogated or precise.

The research consists of introduction, preamble, twelve researches, conclusion, annex for comparison and revealing indexes.

I defined in the preamble the abrogation, language and terminology, and explained the meaning as understood by the previous scholars and those who came after. I also defined zakat and charity and pointed out the difference between them.

Then I discussed thirteen verses of the holy Quran, which represent the core of this subject matter, namely:

The Verse No. 3 of Sura (Chapter) Al-Baqarah (the Cow), the Verse No. 215 of Sura Al-Baqarah, and the Verse No. 219 of  Sura Al-Baqarah, 219, the Verse No 141 of Sura Al-Am’an, the Verse No 199 of Sura Al-A’raf, the Verse No. 34 of Sura Al-tawbah, the Verse No 60 of Sura Al-Tawbah, the Verse No. 103 of Sura Al-tawbah, the Verse No. 36 of Sura Muhammad PBUH, the Verse 19 of Sura Al-Dariyat , the two verses of Sura Al-mujadaleh, the Verse No 14 of Sura Al-‘ala.

Having examined the statements of interpreters, the previous and those who came after, and their attitudes of abrogation of these verses and highlighted the weighted statements.

I made a comparison between the abrogation books in their attitudes in the statement of the abrogation these verses.

Then I concluded the research by a conclusion showing the most distinct results and recommendations.
