Abstract

Smoking is considered one of the bad habits that causes harm to the individual as well as the society, so it needs to be fought and eliminated. Some studies in Saudi Arabia shows that the issue of smoking is not limited to only males but it has started to spread among females, too. There is no doubt that the harm is greater when it comes to women because of their status in society and family. So, it is an obligation to every Da’iah to warn and clarify the risks of this lesion in order to reduce its spread between women's communities. Therefore, this highlights the importance of discussing this topic: “The role of da‘wa in reducing the spread of smoking in women’s community”. The research consists of an introduction and four chapters; the first chapter discusses the concept of smoking and its ruling in Shari‘ah. The second one handles the causes and harms of smoking in women’s community. The third chapter is about the role of Da’iahs in reducing the spread of the phenomenon of smoking. The fourth chapter presents the obstacles that face the Da’iahs in their pursuit of reducing the spread of smoking in women’s community and how to overcome them. The research concludes with a number of results, here are some:

  • The Islamic da'wah has its own approach in facing the phenomenon of smoking among women. It starts with the problem and takes preventive means, so it is easier to contain the problem and keep it from being an addiction.
  • The means of Da’iahs in handling the issue of female smokers include many integrated aspects. It combines between “self-control” which means self-cultivation and “external control” that is represented in the promotion of virtue and the prevention of vice.
