Abstract

Islam has made it desirable for people to do their work efficiently and also urges hard work and earning a livelihood. Allah has created people and urged them to work hard for earning lawful livelihood and has ordered them to perform their work professionally. The Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) submitted to this divine ordinance; they were known for their sincerity and transparency in doing their jobs. The whole world learned these behaviors from the Companions, where they set a good example in this regard. However, the next generations after the Companions did not follow that right path. They became lazy, unprofessional, and negligent in their work, until we became reliant on other people for a number of reasons. One of these reasons is not following the teachings of Islam; teachings that has called for task professionalism and sincerity, and has even made it a must, engagement in this life, making fortune, legally or illegally, which has become the main goal for many Muslims. Therefore, billions were looted, and bribery has become an acceptable practice for people doing a job they are already paid for from their employer. For the aforementioned reasons, I have decided to write on this topic “The Task of Muslim Preachers in Enhancing the Culture of Transparency and Integrity in Public Apparatuses,” in order to fulfill the needs of the Islamic World for this topic in our contemporary times.
