Abstract

This study aims to explore and investigate Mahmod bin Ahmad Al-Gonawi's, alias Ibn Al-Seraj Al-Hanafi, book "al-I'jaz fil I'tirad ala al-Adillah ash-Shar'iyah", (died in 771 AH). The book was revised twice, and the theme of the book falls under the topic of "al-I'tirad ala al-Adillah ash-Shar'iyah wal-Ajwiba 'anha". This topic was not investigated separately, but rather was mentioned in the Islamic fundamentalist manuscripts within fundamentalist's discussion of Islamic texts, except on a question of (al-I'tirad ala Daleel al-Qiyas). This book is distinguished for its unique, distinct and well arranged and presented topics.  Furthermore, it is the only book that discussed the topic of (al-I'tiradat ala at-Tamasuk bil-Ma'qoul) and some aspects of objecting to unreasonable inference. The topics are arranged alternately, prohibition then acceptance. Moreover, this book played a role in highlighting the contributions of the Hanafi scholars in tackling the topic of (al-I'tiradat ala al-Adillah ash-Shar'iyyah); it is the same topic to which the Maliki, Shafi'i and Hanbali scholars have made prominent contributions.
