Determining a Word's Meaning in a Given Context

Abstract

This study discusses an issue related to the influence of context on determining a word's meaning. For understanding Islamic texts does not depend only on knowing the vocabulary, wording and grammatical structure of a text but one must know the context in which it occurs.  Thus, this study concerns with the wording of an Islamic text taking the meaning of gratitude. In fact, this is one of the aspects of the Islamic text; that needs further research and elucidation within the field of the principles of jurisprudence. Also, the differences between the resources that tackle this topic, needs to be demonstrated; in order to find a framework that governs the wording, meaning and the context.
