Implementation of Electronic Management at the General Directorate of Education in Asir Province: A Field Study

Abstract

The study aims at identifying the reality of the implementation of electronic management at the General Directorate of Education in Asir,and monitoring its hindrances, as well asidentifying the requirements of its implementation. The descriptive survey approach is used in this study. The study instrument is a questionnaire addressed to a sample of 120 members of directors, heads of departments and employees of the General Directorate of Education in Asir.  Results of the study reveal that the directorate does not have a clear strategic plan for implementing electronic management in its departments and divisions. Results also show that the concept of electronic management is still ambiguous to somepersonnel. There is also a lack of funding for designing and developing electronic software as well as hardware maintenance and providing a high-level internet network.Moreover, most of the study population highlyagreed upon thehuman, administrative, technological and financial requirements of implementingelectronic management.This resulted inpresenting some recommendations and suggestions in light of the study findings.
