Abstract

Practicum programs in universities, on both bachelor and diploma levels are of great importance in preparing student teachers academically, vocationally, and culturally. This asserts the continuous need for developing practicum to meet the ongoing requirements for the development of curricula, and the new role of the teacher. In this perspective, the study aims at presenting a preliminaryproposal for the development of the practicum in the general diploma program in education in Al-Imam University. It identifies a number of required aspects necessary for the development of the practicum, and looks into the views of the practicumfemale supervisors and the diploma female students in the proposed aspects after experiencing them.

 The findings of the study indicate a consensus in the views of the study sample on all the proposed aspects for the development of the practicum. Based on these findings, a proposal is presented. The study highlights the importance of benefiting from the proposal for the development of the practicum, and recommends implementing it in educational colleges and diplomas in universities.
