Measuring the extent of information awareness among students and faculty members in Al-Imam Abdulrahman Ibn Faisal University: A Case Study

This study paper aims at identifying the information reality of the beneficiaries and the teaching staff at the Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University. It also emphasizes on the role of the library at identifying it, and its impact and effect on the society from different perspectives related to information awareness through using a questionnaire to collect data related to it. A random sample of (400) stakeholders have been chosen. (284) questionnaires were confirmed to be valid for statistical analysis using the (SPSS) system. The results indicate that the stakeholders at the Imam Abdulrahman Ibn Faisal University have different levels of awareness regarding the availability of the resources of information and services in the fields of their interests using the appropriate form and understandable language. The results also indicate that there is weakness in information awareness that supports the curriculum and the reality of educational process aimed at by the Ministry of Higher Education. One of the difficulties that the stakeholders experience is the linguistic gap because they have a problem in understanding whether the foreign resources are appropriate or not. Finally, the research paper recommends the importance of the information situation at the level of stakeholders in universities, and it shows the extent of the library’s services inadequacy towards the importance of information awareness.
