Abstract

al-Waqidi is a prominent scholar in the field of biography, maghazi (battles) and conquests. His book “Kitab al-Maghazi” is an important source of the history and biography of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH]. The book contains valuable information about aspects of public social life during the era of the Prophet [PBUH],

   This study aims to highlight this social public life in the Islamic community, the nature of life in the community in the era of the Prophet [PBUH], and the mode of development under Islamic governance.

The study will firstly tackle aspects of social life such as: the components of the population in the civic community, and lifestyle as terms of clothes, ornaments, food and furniture at the time. The study also covers aspects of economic life such as, trade, industry, agriculture, and professions such as drafting, healing, coiffeuse, and grazing. The study also discusses aspects of military preparations such as fortresses, defense plans, war equipment and preparedness, as well as certain urban aspects such as, the building of the Prophet’s Mosque, traditional dwelling places, domes and building tools. The paper ends with a conclusion, a list of sources and references, and a table of content.
