Development Volunteer Work from Subjectivity to Attitude: A sociological study of a sample of the youth at Sohag University

Abstract

The current study aims to uncover university students’ attitude toward development volunteer work, the kinds of volunteer work they prefer to participates in, and the obstacles that hinder university youth from joining development volunteer work. The study uses a sample-based survey to investigate University students’ attitudes toward development volunteer work at Sohag University. For this purpose, a random sample representative of the target population, students of Sohag University, totaling (370) male and female students, was used.

The findings of the study have revealed that there is a positive attitude toward development volunteer work, and that there is a realization of the importance and benefits gained by the young when they get involved in volunteer work. The results also reveal a statistically significant variation (α=0.05) in the attitude of Sohag university students towards various areas of development volunteer work, and differences between students based on gender and College.
