Abstract

Saudi vision 2030 aims to achieve comprehensive development according to a modern vision. However, since development cannot be achieved without an educational system capable of meeting the requirements of development through preparing academic and professional cadres that can promote and advance society, scientific development falls among the goals of Saudi vision 2030.  Now, because universities faculty are among the most important social groups concerned with achieving scientific development, this current study aims to determine the social responsibility of faculty in achieving scientific development in Saudi universities under the auspices of Saudi vision 2030. The study was applied to a sample of (258) faculty members, males and females, in three government universities in Riyadh. A questionnaire was developed in order to answer the study questions. A number of findings were reached, the most important of which are:

- Faculty members face a number of difficulties in publishing in international academic journals, due to  lack of time for publication, language barrier, etc.

- Faculty members are keen to establish links between academic activities   and the needs of society, which reflects their sense of social responsibility towards society and scientific development.

- Faculty members are keen to maintain cultural and academic communication with international universities, which shows their sense of social responsibility towards scientific development in their universities.

- Faculty members are keen to apply quality standards in the teaching process, which indicates their sense of social responsibility to achieve scientific development in their universities through the application of quality standards.
