Wrong Family Socialization Techniques and Their Roles in Aggression and Terrorism

Abstract

This study tried to explain the role of the wrong family socialization techniques in developing the aggressive and terrorist personality. The wrong family socialization techniques addressed by the present study are: authoritarian, uninvolved, psychological-pain generation, overprotective, fluctuating, permissive or indulgent, harsh, and discriminating parenting. The study used the descriptive method through which the researcher reviewed the literature pertinent to the study, including the books, journal articles, empirical studies, and websites. The study found that there are a number of factors that have caused families to adopt wrong techniques in socializing their children; these include: lack of parental awareness of the right socialization styles and cultural heritage stressing harsh parenting styles. The study found that the wrong family socialization techniques play an essential role in developing the aggressive and terrorist personality. The study described each wrong family socialization technique, and explained its role in generating aggression and terrorism within one’s personality. In light of the results, the study has provided a number of recommendations, including using media and education and religious institutions in raising families’ awareness of the right socialization techniques to minimize aggression and terrorism.
