The reality of domestic violence during domestic quarantine to prevent the outbreak of (COVID-19): A qualitative study of cases of taunted visited hospitals in Al-Ahsa governorate

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the reality of domestic violence during the domestic quarantine imposed by Saudi Arabia to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19, in abused cases who visited a hospital in Al-Ahsa during that period. The study applied the qualitative methodology and interview tool. It included five cases whose age ranges between 23 up to 36. The study found that the physical and verbal violence are the most kinds of violence which the cases faced during quarantine. The physical violence is more harmful and harsher than previous periods. The study found that the reasons of violence represent in reasons related to violent person like financial reasons, negligence, as well as reasons related to cases such as preventing her husband from his legitimate right in bed, and the wife's stay in her parents’ house throughout the quarantine period. The study concluded that the quarantine and curfew contributed indirectly that the cases asked help from the official authorities to report violence after seeking help from their relatives.
