The Role of Extracurricular Activities in Reinforcing the Values of Citizenship of University Students

The study aimed to identify the role of extra-curricular activities in promoting the values of citizenship; by answering the main question: What is the role of extra-curricular activities in promoting the values of citizenship among female university students? The following questions are branched from the following questions: 1- What is the role of extra-curricular activities in enhancing the value of belonging? 2- What is the role of extra-curricular activities in enhancing the value of dialogue? 3- What is the role of extra-curricular activities in enhancing the value of participation? 4- What are the proposals to activate the role of extra-curricular activities in promoting the values of citizenship? The study used the social survey method in the simple random sample method, where the entered questionnaires reached (391) questionnaires and the comprehensive social survey approach with (25) female members of study related to extra-curricular activities, and the number of female workers (10) working in each of the (College of Arts, and the College of Sciences , And the College of Education). The study used the questionnaire and interview tools as tools to collect data and information from the respondents.
Among the most prominent results of the study on the value of affiliation is represented in the extra-curricular activities that contribute to strengthening social relations between female students, as well as its contribution to developing the feeling of female students that they are part of the homeland, and on the axis of the value of the dialogue was that extra-curricular activities develop female students' skills in dialogue with others, as well as ease The exchange of information and knowledge between female students; and about the axis of participation, the most important results of which were that extra-curricular activities are keen on female students participating in national occasions and events, as well as in promoting a culture of participation in building the country. Among the most prominent recommendations of the study are the Deanship of Student Affairs taking into account the strategic planning of extra-curricular activities in terms of time and place to suit the students ’academic schedule, also providing material and moral support and the appropriate budget to activate the various extra-curricular programs and activities; and expanding them to suit different students' inclinations and desires. Observing the Deanship of Student Affairs to reduce the quorum of a faculty member participating in extra-curricular programs and activities. Activating and diversifying extra-curricular activities in universities because of their effective role in contributing to the refinement of the student's personality, and promoting citizenship and positive values.
