Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between the need for cognition and psychological flow in a sample of graduate students at King Abdelaziz University in Jeddah.  The study also aimed to measure the level of both variables and the differences between the group means due to their field of specialization (arts and humanities or science) and sex (male, female). The study employed the descriptive correlational approach to collect the data from (148) graduate students using the need for cognition scale developed by Al-Tayyeb et al. (2019) and the psychological flow scale developed by Al-Mousawi and Shutb (2016). The results showed that there is a statistically significant relationship between the need for cognition and psychological flow. The results also revealed that the level of the need for cognition was above the average while the level of psychological flow was high among the participants, and no differences were found between the group means due to their field of specialization and gender. Considering the results of the study, the researchers proposed some scientific recommendations and ideas for future studies.
