The Patterns of Brain Dominance and Their Relationship to The Methods of Information Processing Among Secondary Students in Madinah
Keywords:
(BD) Brain Dominance Pattern, (IP) Information Processing Method, Secondary School Students.Abstract
The purpose of the current research was to identify the common patterns of brain dominance among secondary school students in Madinah, their relationship to the preferred information processing methods, and to recognize the extent to which these patterns and methods vary according to gender difference (male and female students). To achieve that The descriptive correlative approach was used by applying the scale (Diane, 2005) for measuring the brain dominance patterns, and the scale (Schmeck, 1983) for measuring the information processing methods, on a random sample that consisted of (450) male and female of secondary school students in Madinah.
The results revealed that the common patterns of (BD) for the research sample are the integrative pattern. Then, the right pattern, and then the left pattern. The preferred methods of (IP) for the individuals in the research sample are the detailed processing method. Then the facts retention method, and then the deep processing method, and also there are no Differences between the individuals in the research sample in both brain dominance patterns and information processing methods according to the gender difference (male-female students). In addition, the results indicate that there is a positive statistically significant correlation between the patterns of right brain dominance and the fact retention method. The presence of a positive, statistically significant correlation between the pattern of left-brain dominance and the method of systematic processing, and likewise, there is a positive, statistically significant correlation between the patterns of integrative brain dominance and the method of deep processing. The researcher reached a set of recommendations.
