Social Determinants Affecting Girls’ Ambition in the Digital Village in Riyadh Region: A Social Study

Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify the social determinants that influence the aspirations of girls in rural areas, as well as to explore their future ambitions and the social obstacles that affect their aspirations. Furthermore, the study aimed to explore suitable solutions to achieve these aspirations from the perspective of girls in rural areas. A comprehensive social survey methodology was employed, utilizing questionnaires and interviews to gather data. The study yielded several significant findings. The majority of the study sample perceived that the natural environment, family, and cultural values have an impact on the realization of girls' aspirations in rural areas. According to the findings, the most important future aspirations for girls in rural areas were continuing education, joining university, and having a job and an income. The study also identified various obstacles that hindered girls in rural areas from achieving their aspirations. These obstacles included environmental barriers, such as living in remote areas far from cities, economic constraints including the lack of transportation from the village to nearby towns, and cultural impediments, such as resistance to change. Additionally, most of the participants proposed solutions to achieve their aspirations, including starting their own business and continuing education.

Unwillingness to change, and the village community negativity, the study sample proposed solutions to achieve their aspirations, a special project work, continuing education, persistence and determination, there is a strong reverse correlation relationship with statistical significance between the axis of environmental determinants affecting the girl's ambition and The monthly income variable of the family.
