Abstract

The study aims to identify the nature of the relationship between the methods of parents’ treatments, and psychological security and the problem of girls who run away from home. It also identifies the differences if any, between runaway girls from home and non-escapees girls, in relation to parents treatment methods and to psychological security. The sample comprises (98) girls divided into two categories: the first category from “girls runaway from home” whose age is between (18-27) years old, and the second category from “under-graduated students”.

The findings reveal the presence of incremental relationship between the psychological methods as one of the dimensions of parents treatment methods, and the sense of belonging as a dimension of psychological security in runaway girls. An incremental relationship is also found between the religious methods as one of the dimensions of parents treatment methods and the sense of psychological security in runaway girls except for the sense of belonging. The findings also show an inverse relationship between the total score of parents treatment methods and its dimensions, and escaping of girls. There are differences between the average score of runaway girls and the non-escapees girls, in the dimensions of parents treatment methods and the sense of psychological security in favor of the non-escapee girls, in addition to the possibility of predicting running away by reference to the influence of parents treatment methods on  psychological security.
