Al- Saadiqun and their Political and Cultural Influence in Nisapour During the Fifth and Sixth Centuries AH

Abstract

This research paper highlights the history and activity of one and of the prestigious scientific family in Islamic Orient in public life in Khorasan.  This is the family of Al Sa’id who took Nisapour as its home and the source for learning for its members who were educated by prominent scholars there. The family became the cornerstone in the academic life of Khorasan in general and Nisapour in particular, admired and sought after by students and scholars from various places. They rose up and earned the trust of Ghazawies and Seljokies Sultans who employed them as envoys to Kings and princes of other countries and appointed them judges in their state, assisting in fortifying, educating and raising the awareness of society, and responding to stray ideas. 

Therefore, the Al Sa’id family is a highly esteemed one, whose members inherited learning from elders for two centuries, as they emerged in the fifth century continued to contribute to learning until the end of the sixth century of Hijra.

The nature of this research has required that it is divided into an introduction, five topics and a conclusion. The first topic deals with the lineage of the family and its prominent figures and the factors lying behind its ingenuity. The second topic discusses the family’s participation in political life, while the third topic touches on its role in running the affairs of the state. The forth topic deals with the family’s influence and the fifth tackles its role in social life.
