Abstract

This study aims at identifying the level of awareness of information security issues among public high school female students in Riyadh. The sample under study amounts to 429 students. To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive survey method was applied as it is the most suitable research method for this study. The questionnaire was used as a tool to collect data related to the study.

The findings of the study include:(1) the larger number of students of the study sample, 43.1%, have a very good awareness of the issues related to information security; (2) an overwhelming majority of 94.4% of public high school female students in Riyadh are aware that their computers could be infected with viruses; (3) 85.3% of the students know that using a password to access their computers is crucial to protect their computers from infiltration and spying. The study recommends that efforts should be exerted to raise the awareness of information security and related issues among students in general and among high school female students in particular. It also recommends that awareness raising programs should be developed to achieve this purpose.
