Abstract

This study aims at determining the quality of the professional performance of the social worker at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University by investigating the level of professional performance of the social worker in terms of commitment to the principles, values and knowledge of social work and the use of skills in professional activities and when performing professional roles (preventive, therapeutic and developmental). It also aims at providing suggestions to achieve the quality of professional performance of the social worker at the university.

The findings of the study are as follows: The quality of professional performance of social workers is high in terms of their commitment to the values, principles and knowledge of social work and the use of skills in professional activities. Furthermore, it is pointed out that the professional role of the social worker is of high quality. The most prominent of these roles is the therapeutic role followed by the developmental role followed by the preventive role. The study sample participants have disagreed on one of the preventive role practices (arranging recreational programs during school days). However, they have all agreed to some extent on one of the developmental role practices (supporting excellent and talented students), and on one of the therapeutic role practices (providing group therapy programs to those who have shared problems).
