Abstract

This study aims atdetermining the effect of a set of independent variables (clarity of objectives, organizational structure, technological development, and financial situation and human resources development policies) on the process of manpower planning in Saudi universities. It also aims at determining the statistical differences of the study sample responses to the procedures of manpower planning according to their demographic variables. The study population consists of 1765 workers at thetop and middle management levels inSaudi universities in Riyadh. The study sample consists of 322 individuals and a stratified random sampleis used.

The study concludes that there are statistically significant positive relationships between all of the independent variables and the dependent variable. It also concludes that there is a positive and strong statistical impact of independent variables on the process of manpower planning, so that all basic hypotheses are proven. There is no statistical difference in the responses of the study sample on manpower planning procedures according to the difference in the demographic factors of workers in such universities. Finally, the study suggests some recommendations that encourage and enhance applying the procedures of manpower planning in all Saudi universities.
