The Adaptation of the Saudi Employee Parents to the Requirements of Family Life under Some Social Variables

Abstract

 

The present study aimedto identify the adaptation of employee parents to the requirements of  family life and displayingthe relation between adaptation and some variables namely (gender - age - years of marriage –levels of education - type of job -  income level and type of housing and ownership).The study also tried to investigate thedifferences between husbands and wives in adapting to the requirements of family life in accordance with those variables which are the curriculum and procedures. The sample consisted of 200 families (husband and wife); each family with its scale for the adaptation to the requirements of family life prepared by Dennis Skinner and Hamilton Mac Cobain. Hussein Suleiman translated this measure and it was then codified intothe Saudi environment . The most important findings of the study were thatthere wasa positive correlation between the spouses' adaptation, and  gender in favor of wives, and variable age, number of years, and increasing in the number of children, and the level of income, housing. Thereweresignificant differences in the adaptation to the requirements of family life among parentsin favor of  genderas there were no significant differences in favor of the educational level or the difference of jobtype .There werealso differences between the parentsin their adaptation to the requirements of life due to the difference in the number of sons.
