Administration Skills of Department Heads in Saudi Public Universities

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the management skills of heads of academic departments in government Saudi universities.

To achieve the objectives of the study،the researcher used the descriptive method (survey)،and the researcher designed questionnaire consisted of ten axes and eighty nine words were distributed electronically on a sample of (3973)،a member of the faculty members.

The researcher used a number of statistical methods appropriate to the study.

The results of this study to evaluate the management skills of heads of academic departments in government Saudi universities came to a medium degree،which it without the required level،which indicates that the heads of departments lack the management skills necessary to achieve the objectives of the scientific sections،and although low grade came Order managerial skills as average values as follows: (organization - communication - human relations - time management - making decisions and solving problems - participation and teamwork - supervision - Planning - Monitoring and Evaluation – Development).

Through the outcome of study،the researcher put a number of recommendations and suggestions.
