Training needs special education supervisors and teachers in KSA

Abstract

This study aims at identifying the required training programs of the special education supervisors in the fields of knowledge، skills، attitudes and the general one and the special education teachers in the field of the general program، evaluation and personification، teaching، the personal educational program and the training priorities of their point of views on the basis of their educational and practical practices.The researcher has used the analytical description curriculum and the questionnaire as a tool to collect data. The study community consists of supervisors and teachers of the special education in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The study attains that the educational supervisors of the special education institutions and programs need a high level training in the general field، and a mid level training in the fields of knowledge، skills and attitudes. Also the study attains that the educational teachers need a high level training in the field of the personal training program and a mid level training in the fields of teaching، general program، evaluation and personification.The study shows the individual differences with statistical indications in the indication level (0.05) to teachers at the qualification، stage and specification variables. The study also shows that there are no differences with statistical indications in the indication level (0.05) to supervisors at the qualification، experience، and the training programs variables. The training priorities of supervisors are implementing the recent management styles and recent attitudes in evaluating teachers، using computers and modern technology، building the personal educational programs، the personal development and speech culture. The training priorities of teachers are the lesson good planning، teaching the academic subjects، forming the educational and learning objectives، and identifying the needs of handicapped persons. The study recommends of the continuous evaluation of the training needs to both supervisors and teachers of special education، employing the difference procedures to reveal the required training programs، and building training programs in the light of the training programs shown in this study in accordance to its varied fields especially the field that links the higher education and the general education to know about the graduates' training needs.
