The Role of Social Networks Raise the Awareness of Youth about the Reality of Development in Saudi Arabia

Abstract

 The aim of this study is to identify the role of social networks in young people’s awareness of the development issues in Saudi Arabia and to find out the most important factors and variables that affect this awareness. This study was applied to a sample of 258 students of Taibah University using the descriptive approach. The questionnaire was used as a tool for data collection, and the study showed that the students of Faculty of Arts and Humanities have a wide and varying range of knowledge concerning the development issues and projects in the Kingdom. It became clear that Whatsapp and Snapchat are the most commonly used applications among students, and the most known projects are the expansion of the two Holy Mosques projects while the least known project is the Five-Years Development Plan. The study asserted the necessity to guide students and inform them regarding the optimal use of social networks.
