Objectives and their Impact on the Grammar Lesson According to Abu Ishaq Al-Shatby

Abstract

One of the most frequently used terms in the large book written by Abu Ishaq Al-Shatibi to explain the Alfiyyah of Ibn Malik is the term “Maqasid”, and his choice of the title of the book (The Healing Purposes in Explanation of the Sufficient Summary), and his publication with this term is only evidence of the centrality of this issue to him.  Al-Shatibi was known for his pioneering in the science of the purposes of Sharia, as if he wanted with this book to add to that his attention to grammatical purposes as well, confirming from him the importance and impact of this idea in his grammatical lesson, as if it is issued in the analysis of structures, and to it he returns in determining the provisions, controls and meanings. Among the manifestations of this care is the large number of related purposes in the book; the author presented the intentions of the Arabs who developed the language in their speech, the purposes of grammar and grammarians in controlling the rules of this language, and the purposes of the regulator in its summary, and his purposes is in explaining this system, in addition to the intentions of the speakers who use the language, all in a serious effort from him to clarify the impact of these purposes in the grammar lesson, which is what we tried to encompass in this research.
